Wildfire Protection in Ely

To enhance safety around the property, we conducted hazardous fuels reduction in Zone 1. This involved the removal of all balsam fir trees, as well as aspen trees with trunk defects that posed a risk to the structures. We ensured all marked areas were addressed according to the homeowner’s instructions, chipping the removed material and broadcasting chips throughout the treatment zone.

Removal of red maple, cleanup and firewood

A large northern red maple needed removal near the lakeside entryway of a cabin. We utilized climbing and rigging techniques to safely take down the tree and cut the stump as low as possible. Additionally, we pruned the nearby paper birch, ensuring at least three feet of clearance from the roof. All debris was removed from the site, and the maple wood was cut into firewood lengths and stacked next to the fire pit.

Arbor Detailed Work and Balsam Fir Removal

A significant winter tree removal project was undertaken to enhance the safety and aesthetics of the property. We pruned the eastern white pine near the garage, removing deadwood and weight-reducing overextended branches. Additionally, we installed dynamic cables for support and bolstered stability against potential uprooting. Hazardous fuels were managed by removing defoliated spruce and balsam fir, cutting low stumps, and chipping debris. All materials were staged for spring disposal, ensuring a safer environment for the future.

Multiple Tree Removal and Forest Health Maintanance

A hazardous tree removal project was executed to address safety concerns at the property. We removed a total of 12 trees marked in orange and ground their stumps as low as possible. The work involved climbing in several instances to safely cut down trees located near the house and driveway. Brush was chipped on-site, and larger logs were placed in the forest for natural decomposition.

Safe Tree Removal Around Garage

A large number of trees required removal to enhance safety and aesthetics at the property in Ely. We carefully removed 2-5 aspen surrounding the bunkhouse and all balsam fir from the northeast corner. Caution was taken around the transformer and buried electrical lines. Lastly, all tree materials were chipped and spread across the forest east of the cabin, ensuring a neat finish.

Multiple Tree Removal and Firepit Stools

A significant tree removal project was executed in Ely, where we carefully removed seven trees, including two ash, one jack pine, and two spruce. All trees marked for removal were processed on-site, with brush chipped and spread throughout the surrounding forest to promote soil health. Additionally, we crafted fire pit stools and bench logs from the box elder stemwood, enhancing the outdoor space.

Aspen tree removal near a house

An aspen tree located to the west of the house required removal. We performed all necessary tree work while ensuring minimal risk of damage to the property. The tree was climbed and cut down, leaving the debris in place for the homeowner to manage, and the stem wood was cut into manageable sizes. The stump was cut as low as possible for convenience.

Our work included removing dead or hazardous trees, chipping branches, and clearing brush to improve forest stand resilience. Additionally, we managed debris responsibly by leaving non-chippable materials to decompose naturally, which supports wildlife habitat. This comprehensive approach aligns with best practices in wildfire mitigation.
